Unigym was established in 1980 and is a remedial movement program for children aged 5-10 years with movement difficulties assisting in the acquisition of fundamental movement and aquatic skills. It is a one-on-one where children a paired with a final year sports science student who, with the assistance of program coordinators, develop and deliver a program specifically targeting skills appropriate to the child’s needs. Children attend the program once per week for an hour and a half which consisting of land and aquatic based instruction. The program was specifically set up for children with Developmental Coordination Disorder, so that is the primary population seen in this program.
